How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Swagman E-Spec on our 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe. The E-Spec is a frame-mounted bike carrier, meaning that you're gonna have a padded hook on your cross-tube and straps on your front and rear cradle to secure your bike to the carrier. Now, if you have a carbon-fiber bike or unconventional frame, like a step-through bike, this isn't gonna necessarily be the best option for you. You may wanna go with a wheel-mounted bike carrier. However, if those aren't things that you're working with, then this will be a great opportunity to get some bikes on the road with you for your adventure. The E-Spec does not tilt, so you will not be able to access the back of your Tahoe when you're loaded up with bikes. more

The dispatch is a frame mounted carrier that supports your bike by putting a padded hook on your cross tube and having straps and cradles for your front and rear tire. So what this is gonna do is stabilize your bike with three points of contact. However, if you have a carbon fiber bike or a step through bike or maybe even just a nice paint job you don't want contact to, a frame mounted bike carrier may not be the option. You may wanna lean more towards a wheel mount. If that's not an issue, the Dispatch is a great option to get your bikes out on the road with you. more

Swagman Okanagan 125 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Nissan Murano- Video
How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Swagman Okanagan 125 bike carrier on our 2021 Nissan Murano. The Okanagan is a wheel-mounted bike carrier, so that means that your bike is secured using a front hook and a rear strap without making any frame contact. So if you have a carbon fiber bike, a step through bike, or just a nice paint job where you didn't want any contact, this is gonna be one of the better options available for you. A cool feature is the fact that you do have a awesome foot pedal release tilt feature that's gonna allow you to tilt your carrier down while you're loaded and access your cargo area. So it is a really good tilt and it gives you plenty of space to get to the back of your Murano. You just definitely wanna make sure that you are cautious because that weight, once that latch is released, it's just gonna come right down and then just to lift 'er back up, it just clicks right back into place. more

How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Thule T2 XTR Bike Carrier on our 2021 Nissan Murano. The T2 XTR is a wheel-mounted bike carrier, so what that's gonna do for you, it's gonna secure your bike to the back of your vehicle by making contact with your front and rear wheel. It doesn't have any contact with your top tube. So if you have a unconventional frame or a carbon fiber frame bike, this is gonna be a great option to secure your bike without making any contact. On the back of our vehicle, it doesn't take up very much space and it gives you a lot of flexibility. Using the handle here, (mechanism clicking) we're able to tilt our carrier and access our cargo area pretty easily. more

You're also secured using cradles on the front and rear that strap into place to stabilize your bike to the back of the vehicle. Our carrier is a frame-mounted bike carrier, so it's actually contacts right here on the top tube and on your front and rear wheel. So if you have a bike that's a little bit nicer or unconventional frame, you may have issues as far as using this carrier and getting the most out of securing your bike. An observation I made while taking a look at the XTC2 is the fact that it is kind of a small carrier. This is actually a small frame bike here. We tried to load a XL frame mountain bike and it just simply too large to fit on the inside and the small is still gonna make contact with the back of your tailgate and your handlebars can come close to your window. more

Let's take a look at the tilt feature that's included on our bike carrier, and see what type of access it allows us to our hatch area. The SuperClamp EX is a cradle-style bike carrier that has a wheel mount securing system. So essentially, you're gonna have hooks on your wheels in addition to the cradle straps to hold your bike on the carrier. What's unique about the SuperClamp is you have a front and rear hook. A lot of times when you have a wheel-mounted system, it's just a single hook and one single cradle. A wheel-mounted bike carrier is gonna work well for a person that has either a carbon fiber frame that you really don't want contact to, or if you have a nice paint job or an unconventional frame, it makes it a lot easier for those types of bikes. more

The E-SPEC is a great e-bike carrier, and it's gonna give you a really good capacity. It's rated up to 80 pounds per bike, so that's gonna cover a lot of the bikes that are out there on the market right now. The style of the carrier is a platform style carrier, so that's gonna give you two trays or cradles at the bottom where your feet are secured and a hook that actually makes contact with your frame. So, that is a sturdy way to secure your bike. However, if you have a carbon fiber frame, unconventional frame like a step through, it's gonna require either an adapter or I would just suggest if you have a carbon fiber bike, going with something maybe like a wheel mount. more

How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE on our 2022 Kia Sorento. Picking a bike carrier for your vehicle, it kind of ties in on how you plan on using it and how you would like it to secure to your bike. For example, the one that we're looking at here is a frame-mount bike carrier, meaning that it's gonna make contact here at your frame and it's also secured in the cradles for the front and rear tire. What's different about this one is the fact that it does have included anti-rattle on the hitch. It's also adjustable to go up to 60 inches for your wheel base and can support your e-bikes up to 80 pounds. We're gonna remove our pin and put the Sport Rider in the tilt position (metal clacking) by pulling the pin on the side, and that's gonna allow us to have access to our cargo area and we're clearing it completely. more

So let's check it out. The first thing I wanna point out is how close our bike does sit to the back of our van. Now we typically have our bike on the closest cradle, but today we got on the second closest one and that's because our handlebar is actually making contact when we do have it on the closest cradle. more

Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack Review - 2023 Lexus UX 250h- Video
How's it going neighbors, this is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E-bike carrier on our 2023 Lexus UX 250 H. The Destination E is a good rack, in my opinion, just based on the fact that it has a solid weight rating right at 70 pounds and you have a frame mounted system, so you're gonna have two points of contact on your front wheel right here and here for your strap and one single bar that's holding you in the center. And that is adjustable for varying styles of frame, so that makes it a lot more flexible, and then you just have the single strap on the rear. Frame mounted bikes generally are gonna work better if you don't mind contact to the frame of your bike. If you have a carbon fiber frame or unconventional like a step through, you may want to look at some other options. To tilt the Destination E, we're gonna take the gray knob, and twist it and pull it down. more

Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Audi Q5- Video
How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Kuat Transfer 3-Bike Platform Carrier on the back of our 2023 Audi Q5. So the Transfer is a solid bike carrier for your road bikes. Mountain bikes, it may come up a little bit short as far as that wheel base, but in general use is a good way to move three bikes, especially if you have something that's gonna have the carbon fiber or something with a nice frame or alternative style like a step through. In those cases, this guy's gonna work well, because it doesn't make any contact with the actual frame of the bike, you just have the front wheel hook that holds down the front of the bike and you have the rear cradle strap that holds your rear wheel in place. Another unique thing about the Transfer is the fact that the arms actually fold up out of your way and you have this U-shape on the base to make it easier for loading and unloading your bikes, which is unique to platform racks. Generally, you're gonna have to maneuver your bike over a mast or, you know, struggle it onto the carrier itself. more

Since we do have a small frame bike, our handlebars are gonna sit lower and more likely to make contact with that window. Hi Matt with etrailer, and today we're gonna be talking about the inner tire hold HD bike rack on the back of the 2022 Ram 1500. Now there's gonna be a great option for you if you're looking for a carrier that's gonna be able to hold your really heavy E-bikes, and you don't wanna throw 'em in the bed of your truck because you don't want 'em getting damaged. So let's take a closer look at it. Now we're gonna have an 80 pound weight capacity per bike, and we're gonna have a tilt away feature too, but as you can see, it's not gonna tilt away very far. And that's one of the trade-offs with that really heavy weight capacity. How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Swagman XTC2 Tilt bike carrier on our 2023 Kia Sportage. So the XTC is a frame-mounted bike carrier, and this also would. I would consider it to be an entry-level carrier. This is going to basically attach at the frame and your wheels to secure your bike to the frame. If you have a nicer paint job or if you have a bike that carbon fiber, that downward force wouldn't be ideal or a step-through bike, that could also cause issues as far as how you can secure it. You may wanna look towards other options. more

You're gonna have the hook mount, and the wheel strap on the rear. It works for any bike, but it's specifically people that are going to want no contact to their frame. So if you have a fancier paint job, a carbon fiber bike, a step through bike, something unconventional, a wheel mount is gonna work. And this type of carrier basically future-proofs you against any bike you may encounter. Your weight capacity will be 60 pounds per bike. more

Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack Review - 2022 Toyota Tacoma- Video
How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination e-bike carrier on our 2022 Toyota Tacoma. The Destination has a 70 pound weight rating, so it's gonna work for your heavier e-bikes, and it also is a frame mounted carrier. So, the positive on that is the fact that it's gonna give you sturdy contact to the frame, and its unique mast allows you to adjust for the positioning of the clamps on the frame itself. Like, our frame is a little bit alternative versus a standard men's bike, but we're able to position it in a way where we can securely clamp it down. And there's also a second mast that reaches over. It will create 11 inches of separation between the bikes. more

What makes the StageTwo a really cool bike carrier is a lot of the specs that it has. It will support your heavier bikes as far as your e-bikes rated up to 70 pounds per bike. It'll go up to 52 inches as far as your wheel base. And as far as your tire size, it can go between 16 inches all the way up to 29 inches. So it's a pretty wide variety of styles of bikes that this will accommodate. more

Hi, everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts GuideRail Hitch Mount Bike Rack, and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Toyota 4Runner. As far as bike racks go, the GuideRail is a personal favorite of mine because it's really well-built and I think it's a great fit on the 4Runner. It offers one of the best ground clearances out there. So if you're taking your 4Runner off the beaten path and you're worried about clearance, I don't think you have to worry about it as much with the GuideRail, and we'll check out that specific measurement later. But just as a rack itself, it's going to have an impressive capability, being able to hold up to 60 pounds per bike. more

Kuat Piston Pro 3 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Piston Pro three bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Toyota 4Runner. The Piston Pro is a really nice bike rack. It's gonna be a dual wheel mount design, which just means it holds the bike by both tires. What that translates to is zero frame contact, making it a really good fit for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes. The one downside to the three bike version that we have today is the weight capacity. more

Saris MHS Bike Rack Review - 2023 Kia Sorento- Video
How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Saris MHS on our 2023 Kia Sorento. The MHS is the Modular Hitch System. In this configuration, we have it set up to carry two bikes. It is a wheel-mounted system, where you have a front and rear wheel arm, that's gonna make contact with the wheels. If you have a unconventional frame bike, a nicer paint job, a carbon-fiber bike, step-through, any of those things where you don't want contact or contact's not possible, wheel-mount is gonna be your option. The MHS also has a single strap on your rear wheel to help stabilize, and a front wheel fixed chock for your, and what that's gonna do is basically get a tighter grip on your bike, making it one of the more sturdy wheel-mounted carriers that we have. more

The after party works out well for you when you have a pickup 'cause this allows you to actually access the back your tailgate and lower it down without having to remove your bikes from the carrier. Most cases, when you put a bike carrier on the back of a pickup, you just don't have that access, so that makes the AfterParty an awesome option for this vehicle.
